The text, “Roads to Quoz”, is an extract from a narrative. This is identifiable from the use of the footer. This is utilized in order to explain things that would not make sense if explained in the story. For example, “Q” is used in the text but cannot explained so it is put in the footer to explain to the reader that it is a nickname for the authors wife. The author speaks in the first person which adds to the text by giving it a more personal tone. Throughout the text, he brings up his own opinion which goes along with that. For example, “My fare in such”, makes the piece more personal since he adds his personal opinion. The writer does a very good job with his descriptive language and thoroughly explains the setting and actions. This positively effects the reader and gives them an image in their head. The author uses the analogy, ”None exceeds bread as…finished whole”. This quote, to me, is cleverly worded which makes the reader ponder what he had said. This leaves a positiv...
