Daisy’s party takes place in a “cheerful-and-white Georgian Colonial mansion, overlooking the bay.” This was her and her husband Tom’s home in the East Egg or more “fashionable” area. Tom is an ex-football player and an exceptionably wealthy man who is described by his wife to be “hulking”. He is also a racist who tries spreading his ideas by telling people to read the book, “The Rise of the Coloured Empires”. Tom gets caught making a phone call to a lover in New York which does not phase his wife Daisy at all. Tom’s wife Daisy is the main character, Nick Carraway’s, cousin. Daisy is described as, “Her face as sad and lovely with a bright passionate mouth”. Daisy is a loyal wife even after she hears about his secret lover. She looks past it and stays by his side. Jordan Baker is the woman who told Daisy about Toms’s affair. Jordan is a professional golf player. She is a very independent woman which is very uncommon of these times. She had grown up in Louisville and is very strong-willed. At the party, she eavesdrops on Tom to find out about his secret lover. She ends up going to sleep first since she has a golf match in the morning.

Myrtles Party takes place at 158th Street in New York, “The apartment was on the top floor--a small living room, a small dining-room, a small bedroom, and a bath.” Myrtle is the wife of George Wilson who is the owner of a garage that Tom is selling his car to. Myrtle is also Tom’s ‘secret lover. She has a ‘thickish figure’ and rather ‘wide hips’. Myrtle, for the party, changed into chiffon and had also started to act more ‘wealthy’ compared to how she acted at the garage. She had gotten pictures taken of her by the neighbor downstairs, Mr.Mckee, and she gets very drunk. This results in her flustering Tom who then went on to break her nose. Tom during the party is very quiet and only really mentions to Myrtle to take care of the guests. However, in the end, he has a confrontation with Myrtle where she says, “Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!”, resulting in her getting a broken nose courtesy of Tom. Mr. Mckee is a photographer and lives on the floor below the apartment. He is described as,” a pale, feminine man from the flat below.” He takes pictures of Myrtle and talks about his work. His wife, Mrs. McKee, is described as,” shrill, languid, handsome, and horrible.” At the party, she is very talkative and she also gets drunk. Lastly at this party, is Catherine. She is described as, “ a slender, worldly girl of about thirty, with a solid, sticky bob of red hair, and a complexion powdered milky white.” Catherine lives in New York but she likes to travel most recently going to Monte Carlo. At the party, she does not drink but she does talk a lot. She does not hesitate to bring up the fact that both Myrtle and Tom are married and cheating. She also flusters Myrtle who shares his feelings about he husband to the party.

Gatsby’s party took place at his house. There was a buffet of food and even an orchestra. His estate itself had a “Christmas tree of a garden” and it resembled a castle. The cars were parked 5 deep and most of the guests had not even been invited, they just showed up. Gatsby is a rich man who no one knows much about. He is not very involved in his parties and does not appear for a long time. There are many rumors about Gatsby and where he has come from. At this party he talks to Nick about the war and they come to find out that they had served in the war together. After Jordan aside for a private conversation. At the end he talked to the remaining guests. Jordan Baker is seen at the party walking around with Nick and partying with her friends. She gets asked by a butler to go see Gatsby and after the interaction does not say much because Gatsby told her not too. On her walk with Nick they encountered a drunk man in the library. Gatsby’s parties were known by many all around. All the wives were drunk and did not want to leave and someone even crashed driving out.

If i had to choose to go to one of the parties, I would choose Gatsby’s. It seems like the best venue with many things to do and lots of space to party. Not to mention the plethora of people that were there to meet . He also had lots of catering and a live band. Myrtles party took place at a terrible venue with no space in the little apartment. Daisy’s party only had a few people and the news of her husbands affair would ruin the party for me.
